Autumn officially arrives in Toronto (and in my Thunder Bay home) at 10:44 am Monday September 22.
I haven't been back to Thunder Bay since Labour Day weekend so when I go home for Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving is October 13) I am sure I will see a big difference in the way Mother Nature has painted her outdoor canvas.
In Toronto, the odd leaf here and there has turned to red or gold. Fall wildflowers (aka weeds to some, but I think they're beautiful) are in full bloom. The white and purple of asters, the deep yellow of golden rod, and the brilliant purple of thistle are beautiful up against a plethora of ripe wild fruit, nuts, and berries. Butterflies still abound, and the geese and duck populations are growing rapidly as northerners take a break on their way to their winter homes.
Yesterday we had a burst of warm weather as the temperatures climbed to +25C (77F) and with the humidity it felt like 30C (86F). Nights are not really cool yet (at least to this northern girl!) - in the 10-14C (50-57F) range.
I've been trying to squeak a walk or two, accompanied by my faithful camera, into my studies. Canadian autumn, regardless of where I am, is one of my favourite subjects to photograph.
